RECENT TRAININGS Vehicle Extrication About once a year, the Covington Rescue Squad holds a vehicle extrication class and opens it up to members of other fire departments and rescue squad throughout Alleghany County. This year, vehicle extrication was held in May and was taught by Covington's own Greg Burton, who has been serving as a vehicle extrication instructor for many years. Greg was also part of Covington's 2005 state award-winning extrication team at the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squad's annual convention in Virginia Beach. Here are some pictures and a description of each picture. _______________________________________ EMT-Enhanced Beginning in February, six Covington Volunteer Rescue Squad members began taking EMT-Enhanced classes at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. The class included EMS providers from several different fire departments and rescue squads and was paid for through a grant from the Alleghany Foundation.
